Jim Brabeck was chosen as the 2007 “Circle of Serving” award honoree for showing exceptional leadership and unwavering support of children, youth and families in San Luis Obispo County. Mr. Brabeck, the CEO of Farm Supply Company for 38 years, is described as a selfless man from humble beginnings. Since becoming involved in children’s issues over 30 years ago, Mr. Brabeck has worked persistently and tirelessly, often unnoticed, behind the scenes to improve the lives of children, youth and families in San Luis Obispo County. His community efforts include: serving on the Juvenile Justice Commission for 30+ years; initiation of the DARE Program in SLO County; establishment of the county-wide diversion program for at-risk youth; chairing the steering committee of the Children's Advisory Council which became the Children's Services Network; initiation of the ISAFE, Internet Safety Program with the 24th District PTA and the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Conducting weekly Eucharistic Services through the Mission San Luis Obispo at the Juvenile Services Center.
